My Experience :
Come summers and we all start dreaming of beaches and pools! But we tend to forget about the harsh and harmful UV rays all around us. I think sunscreens are essential but i hate the uncomfortable heavy layering effect that sunscreens have. Some leave a strong white cast on yellow toned skins and some are just useless the minute you start sweating! Another thing i am not fond of about sunscreens are the truckload of chemicals. As always, with most of the products that touch my skin, my en devour is to find something natural and organic.
This is exactly how I discovered this particular product,i.e, while scrolling through amazon to find a natural sunscreen with upwards of SPF 50.
I have to be honest, Biotique is not my go-to brand for herbal/natural/ayurvedic products. If you are familiar with my blog/socials, you know that I favor some other brands like KAMA and Kiehls. My past experience with Biotique has been quite sublime. I have tried their Acne Mask and Hair Care products and found them to be absolutely rubbish. The only thing that I have truly loved from Biotique was their Sunflower Seed Lip Balm. As you may have realized from the feeds of some sponsored bloggers, Biotique have revamped their packaging (and hopefully their product quality too!)
Biotique Bio Sandalwood Ultra Soothing Face Lotion SPF 50+ UVA/UVB is a mouthful of a name for a tiny little product bottle, but packs quite a punch.
It comes packaged in a cuboidal cardboard packing with quite elegant and soothing colors (I like it much more than the bright green they had earlier, even though the green cap remains!). The saffron and ecru shade combination is much more pleasing to the eyes.
The lotion comes in an easy-to-travel-with plastic bottle with a secure lid. Its easy enough to pour out in limited, desirable quantities.
The product has a thin lotion consistency which can be almost runny in these soaring temperatures. However, that helps it in spreading easily on the skin and absorbing quickly.
This product has a mild fragrance of sandalwood (which is its primary ingredient) and musk (in my opinion). The fragrance does kind of linger on throughout the time this product is on you. It is mild enough so it does not bother me much, but to those who are quite sensitive to different smells, it may be bothersome.
This sunscreen is supposed to be ‘water-resistant’ which is a huge boon for people like me who apply sunscreens before workouts and swims, although I am sure you need to reapply after heavy workouts. If you are wearing it as a sunscreen during a normal day, then I suppose you would need a reapplication just once.
It feels light enough throughout the day and is not at all tacky. I would say that this should suit all skin types. I don’t need to apply a separate moisturizer when I apply this. It’s light-ness also makes it a suitable primer for pre-makeup needs.
This product thankfully did not irritate my sensitive skin, which is always one of my major concerns with sunscreens.
Over all, I am pleasantly surprised and delighted that Biotique has pulled up their socks and improved their products. The price point is always quite appropriate as compared to similar ranged products. All Natural products always win an extra point in my books!
This lotion is for sure my handbag essential this summer !Even though it does not completely prevent tanning, it does a pretty decent job being a skin savior!
I would rate it 4.5/5.. here’s hoping someone comes up with a fragrance free product!
Thanks for reading this post.
