My Experience : The Lakme Absolute range has been churning out excellent products that are not only of good quality (as compared to their previous ranges) but also, on trend!
I like to try out most products from the Absolute range and generally they have been satisfactory.
The Shine Line liquid eyeliner range was launched quite a while ago and i didn’t pay much heed to it as i am not a fan of glossy or glittery eye liners! Hence, i totally missed this product for such a long time!
This eye liner comes packaged in a black cardboard box with silver detailing, it looks quite chic. This is the standard packaging theme for Absolute range of products. The liner itself is housed in a black plastic tube and a shiny, gunmetal, round cap.
The cap has the applicator attached to it. I like the applicator tip of this eyeliner, its entirely made of brush bristles. Its just like it used to be a few decades ago, when there were no felt tips in the world!! The brush tip is very flexible and bends with the slightest of pressure. So that makes it a bit more technique-sensitive to apply the eyeliner. You need to have a good and precise stoke application to get nice, clean lines. I would say, this makes it less beginner friendly.
Several people have mentioned that the tube looks much more smaller in real life than it appears on the websites, and this was the case with me too! Although, be assured, 4.5ml of product should last you well for few months.
The consistency of this product is quite smooth on application, there is no tugging over my eyelids at all. It goes on as a thick liquid would. The product can be layered on depending on the kind of look you want but too much layering causes it to flake away. The pigmentation is superb and you get an opaque line in just one layer.
This eyeliner takes about 30 seconds to completely dry on your eyelids, which is much more than what most other felt-tip eyeliners/gel liners do these days. So patience is the key. I you touch/rub/blink your lids too soon then it will transfer all over.
Now coming to the most exciting part for me! This eyeliner has the most amazing MATTE finish i have seen! It dries down to this charcoal black shade that looks stunning against brown eyes! Why would any brand make an amazing matte eyeliner and market it in a ‘SHINE LINE’ Glossy range of liners, is beyond me! Lakme should have screamed from rooftops that this is a matte black liner!!
Longevity of this product is quite good and it has lasted up to 10 hours on me in hot summer days. It is sweat and water resistant and unless you rub your eyes hard, it would stay put.
This eyeliner can be removed easily with an oil based makeup remover.
It has been non-allergic to my sensitive eyes and has not been an issue with contact lenses also.
Over all, this little product has been a lovely surprise to me! I don’t think you can get this quality for this price. I bought it from Amazon in a lightening deal and it was hardly Inr 180 that time! If you like the rich pigmentation of liquid liners and can apply using a brush tip then I think this is a MUST buy!
I would rate it 5/5.
