My Experience : I have been trying to expand my horizon in the beauty realm and try new things that i normally wouldnt lean towards. So even though i love my MAC lipsticks the best, i wanted to try the luxury brand of Estee Lauder as they come under the same umbrella, ( Estee Lauder, Clinique & MAC are sister concerns).
Whenever i try a new brand, my first pick is usually their lipstick range or their mascara range. Hence, Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick seemed like a ‘safer’ option to bet on.
So lets find out what the hype is all about!
First off, the packaging.. OH MY GOD! The lipstick comes packed in a navy blue and gold metallic casing and has a little weight to it. The branding has been done very tastefully and gives it a luxurious look n feel. The lipstick has a magnetic closure, which i really appreciate. Its absolutely safe to travel with.
The lipstick casing itself is gold in color with the brand name on it, however, the lipstick itself doesn’t have the brand name embossed on it.
The product shade is a rich red-based brown, with no noticeable scent to it. On the website, this looked a lot more brown but in real life, the red is dominant. Especially on olive/warm/medium skin tones, it looks more brick red than brown.
These lipsticks have intense pigmentation! They go opaque on one swipe and can be built up with multiple swipe. They layer on beautifully with each layer merging into another.
On the lips, they glide like butter! In fact, i had to be careful of not sliding out of my lip line! Its the smoothest lipstick i have ever tried! They feel very luxurious and hydrating on my lips. The finish is creme, and it stays that way.
When i read the term ‘sculpting’ in the product name, i didn’t understand how a lipstick can ‘sculpt’ my lips. Oh boy! Was i in for a surprise! These lipsticks have a slight concavity on the edge of the bullet, which makes it ‘hug’ the curvatures of the lips while application. They give almost a lip-plumping effect instantly. My non-existent upper lip looks supple and plumped! This was one of the best things about this product for me!
Their longevity is about 4-5 hours on me, which is what one can expect from a creme finish lipstick. It does leave a slight stain on the lips. However, if you have something to eat then you would need a touch up.
They are easily removable with wet wipes/makeup wipes and oil based makeup removers.
Although its not mentioned on the website, the SA at Sephora told me that these lipsticks have SPF as well as AHA to protect the lips from sun as well as anti-aging effect.Although I cannot vouch for these claims, i know Estee Lauder does Anti-Aging products very well, their face serums and creams are some of the best things in the world! So i would say its quite believable!
Over all, this is definitely a splurge item for me, and it definitely stands out in terms of luxurious feels. The lipstick itself is a high quality item, there is no doubt in that. So its something i would look at if i want to pamper myself or my mum!
I think people who like to have just a few shades of lipsticks or the ones who can afford it, must definitely give it a try. For people like me who like to constantly try out new stuff, this would probably be a ‘special occasion’ splurge item. I would love to explore their matte lipstick range too!
I would rate it a 5/5 !! ♥
