My Experience :   MAC lipsticks are some of my favorite things in this world! They have a vast range of shades ( over 190 Shades) and 9 different finishes. Its safe to say that they are on top of their lipstick game. The fact that MAC comes under the same umbrella of companies as Estee Lauder (one of my most coveted brands) makes my loyalty ever more stronger to them.

First off, let me share with you that even though i have always loved the MAC retro matte shades, i have never had the courage to buy them as i have very dry lips and everyone knows the retro matte finish is unforgiving on lips. So i would often times try out the shades at the MAC counter but refrain from purchasing them.

BUT.. i had heard from a little birdie that MAC had reformulated its retro matte lipsticks and ones that came after THE MATTE LIP collection seem to be a bit ‘soft’. That’s what made me finally purchase this particular shade that i had my eyes on for long.

MAC All Fired Up comes packaged in the classic black cardboard box, with all product details mentioned. The lipstick is housed in a bullet shaped black frosty finish plastic casing which is so iconic of MAC lipsticks. This particular shade was also available in the Limited Edition Magic Of The Night Holiday collection 2015,however that was out of stock at the time i purchased this.

Upon opening it, you get the typical vanilla fragrance which is oh-so-MAC! You don’t notice it at all after application though.

The retro matte lipsticks are extremely matte in finish right off the bat. When you swatch it on your arm, they will come out totally matte. None of that ‘glossy first but settles to matte finish’ saga  here. This lipstick is matte in your face. So its no surprise that they don’t glide smooth as butter upon swatching but somehow due to some ‘MAC magic’, these are quite smooth.

Now let me come to the best part, just look at this amazzzingg shade! Its a perfect mix of pink and red with a tiniest hint of purple. It a warm shade, and in my opinion it would suit all skin tones. But it is truly perfect for olive/Mediterranean/Indian/medium skin tones, it tends to just warm up and brighten the face! Perfection by MAC yet again.

One pass on my lips with this and i knew there is something new about this formula. Earlier ones would just provide a lot of resistance while application on my lips, tend to cling to every single dry flake and exaggerate it. This one seemed ever so slightly ‘softer’ matte and didn’t tug or pull as much. However, you do need to prep your lips with exfoliation and lip balm for the best results.

The pigmentation of this is superb. One swipe gives enough color but i apply two thin layers on my lips as my lower lip is slightly pigmented. Layering this lipstick is very easy and comfortable even though it’s totally matte.

Longevity of this particular lipstick was quite satisfactory for me. It lasts on me for good 7-8 hours even with light snacking. If i have a heavy lunch like spaghetti, even then it came off only from the middle of my lips. There is no feathering outside the lip line and i can vouch for it as i NEVER wear a lip liner.

These are not completely transfer proof, you can see  slight transfer on cups and spoons while eating.

To completely  remove this product, one needs to use an oil based makeup remover. Its not water proof, but it does resist smudges.

These are hypo-allergenic,they don’t cause any allergic reactions on me.

There are many blog posts on the net disclosing dupes for this particular shade but i haven’t found an exact dupe as yet, which matches the shade as well as the finish. Some bloggers have mentioned L’Oreal Paris Moist Matte lipstick in Raspberry Syrup to be an exact dupe of this. While i do agree that the shade is quite similar, the finish is completely different. And if you have read my previous posts, you know why the L’Oreal range was mentioned in the Worst Products of 2015

Over all, I LOVE IT! The quality of MAC lipsticks is what attracts me towards them the most. These are well made and do not break off from the bullet or cause reactions or vanish from your lips after a couple of hours. And thats why i think they are a great investment.

I would rate it 5/5

Thanks for reading and i hope you enjoyed it as much i loved writing this post!

Give it a thumbs up if you love MAC lippies too!
