Hi guys! Today I am here to share with you a very prized possession! We will be talking about the famous MAC lipstick, Chili.
Price : Rs 1450 for 3gm/ US $17
Product Description : MAC describes this lipstick shade as brownish orange-red.
My experience : Hope everyone is having a good weekend! I am extra chirpy as Autumn begins.. something in the air! The weather has calmed the eff down.. its not insanely hot any more.. but more importantly, it’s my birthday month!! ?
And if there is one thing that perfectly defines Fall for me, it’s this gorgeous lipstick!
You may be thinking, lipsticks are so passè! This is the age of liquid lipsticks! However, some things just reach such a cult status that trends cannot knock them down. They are just classics. MAC lipsticks are just that. There was never any better, there would never be any better!
Lets check out this cult shade, Chili.
The product comes in the standard black cardboard box packaging that is synonymous with MAC. The lipstick casing is a frosted black bullet shaped plastic casing as always with MAC lipsticks.
The lipstick bullet itself has the typical drop shaped tip which i quite appreciate. It makes shaping the cupid’s bow (non existent in my case!) quite easy. The cover snaps shut pretty snugly over the bullet, hence its travel safe. Its very unlikely it will open up in your handbag.
It has a vanilla scent to it,as usual. Smells very delicious and comforting to me! After application though, there is no noticeable scent.
This particular shade is a gorgeous burnt orange/brick red/ autumn leaves kind of color, which instantly reminds me of Starbucks Pumpkin Lattes too! It’s a perfect shade for olive/ tanned beauties. Not too orange, not too red. Its also very work appropriate.
Here i swatched it against Russian Red (which is a true blue red), just to show how much more orange it is.
The matte finish makes the look of this lipsticks most appealing. MAC mattes are not completely matte on application. They still render some moisture to the lips(unlike their Retro matte finish),and eventually settle down to a matte finish after few hours. If you want that extreme matte finish from the start, then you can blot the lipstick with tissue after application.
The application is very smooth, esp for a matte lipstick. there is no tugging/pulling during application. It applies very evenly and does not settle into lines or emphasize dry lips. However, a little bit of lip prepping is suggested.Exfoliate your lips the night before and apply lip balm overnight for best effect.
The color payoff is phenomenal for this lipstick. One swipe or pass on the lips is all that it takes to cover even pigmented lips. A second layer can be applied, it doesn’t cause any flaking.
This lipstick lasted on me easily 4 to 5 hours with light snacking in between. One of the reasons i love MAC mattes are that they last the longest on me.
Removing these is quite easy as they easily come off with an oil based makeup remover.
Over all, MAC mattes rarely disappoint.
There is a reason why MAC lipsticks are famous by names, and i am so glad to own some of these classics. To me, Chili is autumn in a lipstick tube. Go experience it for yourself!
I would rate it a 4.8/5 (if only they were cruelty free).
Which is your favorite lip color for fall?
